  • Trout Lake

Sunday was a beautiful, ridiculously warm, day in Vancouver. Walking to the bus I saw a guy in shorts and a t-shirt. It was a little excessive, but it is getting close to summer on the west coast. I headed down to East Vancouver to hang out with my friend and took a stroll around Trout Lake. It was beautiful, it is always a good day when you can see the mountains. It is nice to be able to do most of the outdoor west coast things before I leave the province, but it is really strange to not have a real winter. Trout Lake is really relaxing, and a nice…

  • Battle of the Brush S5E1

I have been working Battle of the Brush on and off for two years now. This incredible event, created by Golden Brush Art and held at Heritage Hall, featured five teams of artists creating a work of art in 80 minutes. The theme for the first episode of season 5 was Beats on Canvas, and the works were diverse and beautiful. Here are some photos from the first half of the event:

  • Beach Day

On Monday I walked to the Maritime Museum in Kitsilano and sat on the beach. Apparently it was a dog beach, but that made for some great photos.

  • Granville Island Harbour and Seawall

Vancouver has decided to skip winter and move right on to spring. Yesterday, I took a walk through the Granville Island harbour and along the seawall. It was the perfect day for a walk along the ocean.

  • Pacific Spirit Regional Park

After touring UBC we ventured over to Pacific Spirit Regional Park, on the outskirts of the university. It is so wonderful to be able to walk from the school into nature within a half hour. We didn’t explore too much of the park, but the part we did was spectacular. Everything is covered in a bright green moss, and mushrooms are cropping up near most of the streams. There were sections of the trail that are more bare and wide, and sections where you are fully immersed. Vancouver is unlike anywhere else I’ve been in Canada, I love being in the city one minute and the forest the next. Below…

  • University of British Columbia

On Monday, a friend and I went to the University of British Columbia. We originally intended to stroll through Pacific Spirit Regional Park (we did at the end of the day), but ended up walking across the massive campus. UBC is beautiful, old buildings sandwiched between new glass buildings, interesting structures and stunning sights. It has been warm and sunny in Vancouver, perfect conditions for great photos.

  • Brothers Creek Loop

On Saturday I ventured to my friends house on the North Shore. We planned for a photo adventure and settled on Brothers Creek Loop. We weren’t out for too long because of the rain, but I did manage to get a few good shots. The fog on the water was so thick, and we were so high up that you couldn’t see anything, but it was stunning. Everything was so lush and green. The trail was great, clearly marked paths but you could still explore. The trees were massive, and there were lots of streams, and bridges. It was a fun day, and hopefully next time when we go out…
