The ninth doctor, my doctor, Christopher Eccleston helps to revive the series with this Christmas special. Not only are you introduced to a great new Doctor, viewers got to see Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) for the first time.

With the history behind the doctor it was nice to have the episode center around Rose and her life. Rose also came with her mother, Jackie and boyfriend Mickey – both are incredibly entertaining.

The episode also introduces the adventurous world the Doctor lives in, as aliens called Autons begin to attack them at her workplace.

While this episode doesn’t have a real Christmas feel, it is a great pilot. Everything feels riskier when there are more people to care for. If you have never seen the series, this is the perfect place to begin.
