Before Hurricane Sandy had the chance to flood New York, Jimmy Fallon recorded his television show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. All his guests came – Seth Meyers, Padma Lakshmi, Imagine Dragons – but they sent the audience home. This kind gesture caused one of the most wonderfully awkward cold opens.
Fallon begins outside, showing the rain falling. Once back in the studio the cold open begins. Fallon gives it as if the audience was there. The awkwardness after each joke is only exemplified by the crews slow clapping and laughter.
It is great to see he still put on a show even with the insane weather overtaking New York. Fallon has proven himself to be a professional, and showed he is not scared performing in front of a dead room.
