This show always surprises me with how much they can pack in to twenty five minutes. The League puts most comedies to shame, even if they do center an entire episode around penis’. This episode was ridiculous but highly entertaining.
Included were: a Pete (Mark Duplass) story line, which was nice since we didn’t see a lot of him last episode (although I have watched two of his movies this week, weird) and a Kevin (Stephen Rannazzisi) and Jenny (Katie Aselton) story line. While Pete’s involved a draft like dating scheme, Kevin and Jenny argued on whether they should circumcise Chalupa, I mean Christopher.
When Sutton (Melissa Ordway), an old friend of the guys, reveals she is single, Pete, Taco (Jon Lajoie) and Andre (Paul Scheer) compete for her attention. Pete reveals his draft strategy for dealing with dating over a certain age, a plus two for beauty and a minus two for chalk under the nails, which means she’s probably a teacher and will get up early. Taco misunderstands this strategy and just starts stealing.
This came up last episode too but I always forget Ruxin (Nick Kroll) works for Taco until they talk about it. This episode Pete asked how it was working for Taco Corp now that there is money, to which Ruxin replies:
There are more meetings are they’re longer and he keeps talking about some corporate retreat which I know is just some sweat lodge at Burning Man.
I am always amused at Ruxin’s digs towards Andre, but this episode the whole group made Andre into a dick – literally.
While that is going on Kevin runs into the restaurant and yells: “She wants to chop the top of my son’s dick off.” It was so abrupt, but it allowed the conversation to shift to how Andre’s hoodie makes him look like a penis. (You are welcome for that image).
In order to save his child’s foreskin, Kevin goes to Shiva (Janina Gavankar) to convince her to sign a paper saying he is good in bed. Ruxin also goes to her later in the episode to find out what Andre’s penis looks like. She only tells him because he promises to take her picture off the trophy. His failed promise causes Shiva to curse to the league. Two cursed seasons in a row.
This episode featured a lot of penis jokes, but still had a two solid plots that showed off their characters well. It is great to see a show continuously getting more hilarious. After everything that has happened, I can only assume the rest of the season will be bonkers.
*I had such a hard time starting this review. The first five minutes of the episode I had already stopped it four times. Ruxin and Taco were killing me. These people are absurd, I love it.
