Filament Eruption on the Sun

The technology availible to us is incredible. To be able to photograph eruptions on the sun as they happen is astonishing. The image above shows the explosion at different temperatures and wavelengths.

The images NASA releases are always stunning. (The eruption, resulting in an aurora above Whitehorse, Yukon) These are art pieces on their own, featuring unique shapes and beautiful colours.

The video above was captured from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory last Friday. The explosion you see sent a wave of solar plasma toward the earth at 900 miles per second.

Nature is amazing, going to the Territories to see the auroras may be my next big trip.
