Dance, books, movies, television and lifestyle
Auditions for the ninth season of So You Think You Can Dance start this Thursday in Atlanta. While I’m excited for another summer of great dances and inspiring dancers, FOX has thrown the show for a loop.
This year they have axed the results show, not surprising after the axing of many of the spin offs this year. I love the group numbers from the results shows, so I hope that continues.
Executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe explained via Twitter his feelings:
“Fox [has] cancelled the results show so I have to change the format of #SYTYCD, at least we have [a ninth] season at the end of May.”
“I’m certainly not mad at FOX they have supported #SYTYCD FOR 9 seasons. With the help of Mike Darnell [Fox's president of Alternative Entertainment]. I think we have some great new ideas.”
I’m interested to see what they do this season. I wonder if the setup will be more like America’s Best Dance Crew, that could be an interesting new feature.
