TV Fact Checkers
Wired.com is doing an amazing series of articles right now based around the people who fact check TV shows. These professionals use their expertise to help out characters and plot points in specific shows. So far they have done Jim Nuciforo from Unforgettable, Greg Levine from Parks and Rec, David Saltzberg from The Big Bang Theory and Nancy Hult Ganis from Pan Am.
Jim Nuciforo has advised on the shows Law and Order, Blue Bloods and Castle, and movies The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Salt and The Other Guys. He has 23 years in law enforcement, starting with the New York City Transit Police. He retired as a first-grade detective. Nuciforo had this to say about reality vs television:
“Well, I didn’t make them do it that way, I just gave them reality and this is what worked best. Reality doesn’t always work best for television.”
